Join us in learning everything you need to know to educate homeowners on options for the most efficient choices in outdoor spaces. Also, a special information update on strategies for land restoration in the Four Mile Canyon Fire district and how you can implement fire prevention around local mountain homes.
Speakers: Alison Peck founded Matrix Gardens in 1984, creating a landscape design/build company inspired by permaculture and edible landscapes. She has designed a wide variety of abundant, resource conserving landscapes: from homes to subdivisions. Alison Peck has been featured in articles in the New York Times, Sunset Magazine and Landscape Architecture, and her designs have won several 'Excellence in Landscape' awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado. A talk by Alison in early 2005 catalyzed the formation of a sustainable landscaping study group comprised of contractors and designers, which has become the Front Range Sustainable Landscaping Coalition; FRSLC.
Bill Melvin is owner, lead designer, and chief consultant for Ecoscape based here in Boulder, Colorado. Bill is a graduate of the University of Colorado’s School of Environmental Design, has been a certified Permaculture Designer for almost 15 years, and teaches throughout the region on sustainable land use issues. He has been a volunteer with the Fourmile Fire Protection District for over 10 years, was actively working to protect the mountain communities during the Fourmile fire, and now is working to rehabilitate the burn zone.
